The parable (Mark 4) classifies those who hear the word of the Lord into 4 categories. The particular “type” that struck me most was this:
“Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful”.
I’ve seen this happen too many times in my life. By the grace of God, I’ve been picked up again. But it really pains me too to see this happening to my friends. I worry for them. We are the precious child of God. We have received so much love and grace from him, and we mean so much to him. Why are we distancing ourselves from him? What is there in this world for us?
