its' just really complex for my little grey cells to comprehend
just a few minutes ago, i was fuming (kindof) so i googled "my mum is so irritating". i randomly browsed through some blog entries. one was written by a teen, who claimed that he loved god and loved his church but his mind is simply blown away by his mother (negatively). Though i don't know him well enough to judge, his mother doesn't seem particularly aggressive or abusive. She's probably just your usual rambling-irritating-don't-talk-to-me-while-i'm-studying-or-on-facebook-annoying type of mum. Like all mums, she's just concerned about her child. Except, unlike her child, she is a non-believer.
She decided that the church her son is attending is making him a rebellious freak (though, she most definitely didn't use that label), evil and wants to ban him from attending church. So her son counters that and says he would probably have been dead by now, if it weren't for the church. He would have committed suicide and "so-much-for-that", mum.
On first glance, I thought that he's just not trying hard enough to communicate with his mother. Moreover, since his mother was a non-christian, all the more he should demonstrate and examplify the love and care he gained from becoming a christian, so that she would be moved and perhaps join god's family too. However, after those first few moments, sadly, i realised that i'm just like him.
We claim to love God, but really, if all we can do is rant on our blogs or in our minds about how irritating we find our parents, and harangue about the crazy, maniac actions by our parents, how much are we saying about the love and respect we have for Him?
I've always remembered something from my baptism. We should always question ourselves, "What would Jesus Do?"
We were told to obey our parents, because that pleases God.
