Mere Christianity

surprisingly, i didn't fall asleep while reading mere christianity...
it was really enjoyable

the last time i read something remotely like that was a long time ago. i did read some other christian books when i was younger, but perhaps i was too young to understand. although now, i still can't quite grasp all the concepts, i ponder and reflect upon some of them

what i can say about this book is it has fantastic illustrations. i would have never thought of my relationship with God that way, but the book has made it simpler.

one of the analogies that i really liked was about free will
a child has a room full of toys. he plays with the toys, messes up the room and his mum comes chiding him to clean up his room. the mum could very well just pick up the pieces but she wants him to learn the responsibility to clean up after his own mess

so this is perhaps what we are like with God. We have free will, the choice to do what we want. God could plan everything out for us, but we would never grow if we simply relied on Him to do everything. In the same manner as a child, we are to learn to be more like Him and that form of learning can only come through experiences and making choices.

ok, but i have to admit that i can't remember exactly everything that i read(yes, not all registered into my brain) but i think it's definitely one book that i don't regret reading
